Studiok's Folklorico started off as La Luna Folkloric Dance Team when it was founded in 2011 by Karina Rufener.
Believing that dance transcends language in expressing the beauty of the diverse cultures in Mexico. Karina has directed and choreographed dances from different regions in Mexico and Latin America to help bring our diverse Central Oregon community together through the beauty of dance.
La Luna has been featured in performances all over Central Oregon. From performing at the Deschutes County Fair, Private corporate events, restaurants, schools, and local events in our community.
The group's original purpose was to serve as an after-school program to keep children from drug use and gang activities. Today, our program continues to be a safe space for children and adults to develop a love of dance and learn about their heritage - over the years we have grown to include individuals of all ages and nationalities from diverse Central Oregon communities.
